Andrew surely serves as a model for all decent nifty geeks in the world. May his quotes never be forgotten...
19:17 <Md> is there anybody around who owns a ZIP IDE drive? 19:18 <asuffield> I am not rummaging in my pile of hardware just to locate my old zip drive for some hotplug bullshit that I don't care about 19:18 <Md> I love you too

Oh, and before anybody else gets any bright ideas, anybody caught doing shit like this will be banned. Abuse of support resources is not acceptable. #debian is quite busy enough without time wasters.
That is a quote of our current project leader. Complaining about it will get you laughed at.
While you're at it, fix all the bugs. And get me a pony.
This one's great. That should get rid of most of the users, all the regulars, all the DDs, and ensure that the channel is in a state of permanent war. Who remembers efnet?
But that's stunningly irrelevent to the thread.
I started to reply to this but then realised it was just blind accusations with no actual data, reasoning, or conclusions.
And after this straw man, I'm figuring that the rest of the stuff above was a similar hallucination.
Lay off the drugs.
You can't do anything about that. If you could it would have been done already.
So maybe you should try and get the facts in future before you start accusing.
Sentiments like this are precisely why I think so little of them. The presumption that somebodies actions would be primarily determined by their opinion of the other parties involved (so everything becomes argumentum ad hominem) is utterly repulsive and completely inappropriate for anybody in any position of power.
You can't do anything about it though, except making it worse.
< asuffield> I dimly recall digging into why and discovering that it was because the authors were idiots
< asuffield> people like that never quite seem to grasp the importance of stopping people from doing stupid shit
< asuffield> mejo: pbuilder does not even remotely resemble buildds, it's a horribly artificial environment
