New book reviews coming up (win a free ebook)

After a period of not-being-in-the-mood of coding due to time constraints I'm finally looking forward to get my IDE up and refactor a web application I wrote with Pylons and jQuery. I'll try Pyramid and ExtJS this time and will see if it helps overcome some limitations of a workflow application. jQuery is nice for pimping web sites but for a serious bureaucracy data management application it's not offering enough power.

I know I've tried ExtJS on other projects before and always failed because it was simply the wrong tool for the job. The job at hand looks like ExtJS was made for it though. And coincidently I received new ebooks from Packt Publishing to review. One of them being Learning ExtJS 3.2 which comes in handy. So I have a reason to try ExJS and in the process write a review. Two stones with one bird. :)

The other ebook is the Drupal 6 Theming Cookbook which at a glance looks interesting, too. I'll review it later.

Oh, and Packt has offered a free ebook for the readers of workaround.org. If you are interested in one of the above two book then add a comment on this blog post and tell why you think you should get it. I'll pick one comment and forward your address to Packt.

Hi Christoph, I wouldn't mind snagging that Drupal book. Not only do I regularly build "ISPmail"-style servers (thanks for the great documentation!) but I also build the occasional Drupal site.... Clayton ckoeni@gmail.com

I wonder why there are so few

I wonder why there are so few comments on my blog lately. Seems that since I integrated the blog into Drupal hardly anyone finds it. Leaves me wondering if I forgot a redirection or something.

Anway. Thanks for your comment. Packt is informed and will shortly send you the Drupal ebook. Have fun.
