Actually that has been done to remove complexity. But you are right. It's 
not the hardest thing to try to download the upstream archive. I probably 
won't add it to mentors.debian.net anyway. The "debexpo" project 
(debexpo.workaround.org) is currently running as a GSoC project and is 
supposed to deliver a basis for repositories. I hope that it can be 
implemented there. That's why I send a copy to the development mailing 
list.
