Hi Chritoph :-)
Nice work so far ! Really ! :-D
The big picture is a really good introduction and the drawing is fine !
I took a deeper look to the LVM part. I havn't big experience with LVM
under Linux, but I got a good one with LVM under AIX.
LVM on AIX is on of the few good part of IBM, however their JFS is weak.
Anyway it's the way I wanted to go for my new setup.
Your choice about the filesystem got good reasons. But I got some points
about the partitioning choice.
IMHO there are not enough partitions. Based on my experience I would create:
/boot (out of the LVM)
SWAP
/
/var
/usr
/tmp
/home
/var/vmail (The home user mails, has definitly go on his own way)
/var/log/ (during some heavy spam issues the mail.log get nuts, would be
fine to get the LVM flexibility here)
/var/lib/mysql (just an idea: to use the snapshot feature of the LVM)
/var/spool/postfix (just an idea: to use the snapshot feature of the LVM
to backup the postfix queue in case of trouble)
If the setup is used only for a mail server may /var /usr /home can go
with /.
Kind regards,
Marc
