If somebody ask you if you changed some file never -- I stress this
*never* *ever* -- asume nothing changed.
Would you have taken the time to look at your /etc/hosts after Javier
asked you on August 24th (almost _ten_ days ago!) if there was any
change in there you would have been happy again a long time ago and
almost all of the last 20+ emails on this topic would have never been
necessary.

There is nothing wrong with IMAP or dovecot. You just did not talk
IMAP properly (see http://wiki.dovecot.org/TestInstallation for
advise).

Nothing strange. Webmail knows how to talk IMAP ;)
